Food stamps may stop in November if the shutdown continues. This may be a good time to look into food banks, kitchens, meal trains, and discount markets and programs for outdated foods if you are depending on SNAP.
As it stands, SNAP benefits end October 31st.
There’s at least one regional org where we live doing a massive food drive in response, so we’ll be participating. I’m openly asking anyone who can help out to do the same for your local communities.

And if you are someone who has some disposable income, please donate to your local food pantry. Money is worth more to them than donations of food items, as they can negotiate to steeply discounted food. Food pantries are going to need a massive influx of donations to weather the shutdown, but if you can swing it, a donation every month - however small - is a wonderful way to help your community have funds it can depend on.
The conversation around abortion shouldn’t be “are you absolutely sure you want an abortion” it should be “are you absolutely sure you want a child”. You can get pregnant again. You can adopt. But you can’t half-heartedly raise a child or change your mind midway through parenthood. Children are a huge responsibility and if someone isn’t 110% sure they are willing and able to do it, they shouldn’t. Having a baby shouldn’t be the default because of how extremely demanding and difficult parenthood is and the irreversible damage it does to a kid to be raised by someone who didn’t even fully want parenthood and wasn’t prepared for that level of responsibility.
So based on the way I just read this out loud, I 100% think it should be released as an audition monologue, and I’m 10000% serious. if I were overseeing auditions for Shakespeare somebody’s timing on those “fuck off"s and their ability to pronounce and emphasize "harem of fart sommeliers” would tell me everything I needed to know. This is a work of art fueled by rage, and what’s more, it’s true.
